Drowning (Not Singing!) in the Rain

Suddenly, last night at 1am, the monsoon was back with all it's might to remind us that it will only retreat whenever it wants and not when our calendar demand it to do so.

It continued pouring the entire night, as well as the whole day today turning the streets into rivers, making the sidewalk disappear in mud and the disguising the bazaars and markets as strangers covered under a veil of plastic.

Getting a cab, which - unlike in other Indian metropolitan cities where cab and rikshaw drivers rudely refuse to take passengers or ask for hefty surcharges if the desired destination is not 'worth the trip' - is child's play as it never takes more than a minute to get one, was virtually impossible and I had to wait more than 20 minutes in the rain until I could finally find one. What made things worse is that the city has recently revoked taxi permissions of more than 3000 old cabs in order to promote fleet modernisation, but Mumbai now naturally falls short of these 3000 odd vehicles - especially during peak days like today.

It's now 10pm and thankfully it has stopped raining so that I might go out in a bit for my daily dose of sea breeze ;)

Still drying his clothes ...
